Kernersville Reopens Main Street

Kernersville celebrates the re-opening of Main Street, with a street party on Saturday October 18 from 10am until 2pm.

Main Street KernersvilleMain Street through downtown Kernersville re-opened on October 3, after being closed since June 17. The 1.66 million dollar project included water and sewer mains replacement, as well as complete reconstruction of the road bed. Power lines were moved to the rear of buildings, and new sidewalks and street lights put a final touch on the project.

The Kernersville Downtown Preservation and Development Council hopes that the street party will bring people downtown to see the new streetscape, and also get people into downtown businesses that will be open following the ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30am. You can also expect to enjoy music, concerts, food and children’s activities.

For more information, call the Kernersville Downtown Preservation and Development Council at 336-993-7583.

Kernersville NC, The Little Town That Could

Kernersville, NC

Kernersville, North Carolina, known as being in the Heart Of The Triad, has a lot of development projects in the works. Kernersville is nestled between Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, the Triad area of North Carolina. It’s about time Kernersville starts to steal some thunder from the surrounding larger communities.

Just some of the larger development projects in process in and around Kernersville:

Kernersville Hospital/Medical Business Park – is about to break ground off of Hwy 66 South. Construction is expected to begin soon and completed sometime in 2010. Office, retail, restaurant and residential space is also being considered for development nearby.

Triad Business Park Expansion – located near the intersection of Business and Interstate 40.

Moses Cone Medical Office Building –  a 40,000 square foot office on Hwy 66 south is set to open in June.  There is the option of an additional 40,000 square foot expansion in the future.

Carrollton Metro Center – off Hwy 66 South across from Bishop McGuiness High School. A 411 acre development that will include a village center, business park and residential area. 200 apartments are already under construction, and there are plans for 750 attached and detached single family residences. 500,000 square feet of commercial space is also planned.

Union Cross Town Center –  Located near the intersection of Union Cross road and I-40. Current plans include two hotels, a movie theater, and other mixed use including some residential  and commercial and retail.

Union Cross Road Corridor –  Plans are in the works for another 1 million square feet of warehouse space off Union Cross road near Dell Boulevard. The Union Cross Business Park is also seeing some new construction. Roads are paved at The Shops At Glenn Crossing, on Union Cross road just south of I-40.

FedEx FedEx Ground Package System Inc. has bought 125 acres in Triad Business Park that they hope will be the site of a $110 million regional shipping center for their ground freight operations. Kernersville annexed the business park earlier this year.

There are many other smaller projects in and around Kernersville that are either underway, or in the planning stages.

Kernersville is steadily making a name for itself!
